west of the immediate i-95 counties. we are looking at northern bucks, northern montgomery, northern and western chester county and up towards the lehigh valley and poconos. in these pink counties this is where the change from rain to wet snow is going to have the biggest impact with at least slushy roads and maybe snow covered roads later today and early tonight. in the advisory area probably just wet roads but poor visibility as that wet snow changeover occurs again ah at some point around midday here. could be earlier this morning in some of those northern and western suburbs but i think we're probably pretty good for the rush hour before we start to see some of that change. so precipitation type today, we are going to see mainly rain in the south. it will be rain eventually changing over to some wet snow with mainly wet roads in the central portion of the region and then mainly snow once we get the changeover after rush hour in those northern and western areas and again that's where we have the biggest impact expected. speaking of which the hardest hit will be the northern and western areas that you see highlighted here. heavy wet snow could pile up on branches and later today or tonight bring them down giving

us some power concerns. the central portion of the region rain will begin to turn to wet snow probably around midday or so. a slushy accumulation is possible but mainly on grassy is your arses faces. take it slow on the roads you're probably okay. down the shore wind gusts to 30 miles an hour, maybe a flake or two but the big issue is just the rain down there. temperatures right now still well above freezing but we are going to see these dip as the day goes on. karen i'll be back with future tracker 6 showing you how this changeover from rain to snow is going to occur and then when it gets out of here. >> all right dave. the roads are a bit wet but that doesn't stop people from driving into each other. as we look live in chadds ford we have an accident here baltimore pike southbound at 202 blocking the right lane. we see police on the scene. looks like one of the vehicles may be getting ready to leigh the scene right now. roads here a little bit wet and we have very light precipitation as well as light volume out there but still a few problems. we have this accident on the pennsylvania turnpike that's involving a tractor-trailer. and they're still out there

weather gets worse, that could change. you can see people are lining up here to check in their bags at terminal c and check their luggage. we're seeing some light rain outside the terminal but no snow yet and passengers that are here now are hoping that holds off as long as possible. before midnight last night airlines had pre-emptively canceled more than 200 flights for today. nearly half of those cancellations were at newark and la guardia. many airlines are waiving change feels for passengers flying today through airports that are in the path of the storm and phl is one of them. we have been speaking to passengers all morning long who booked their flights early in the morning before they even knew about the storm. after all it's already a busy day for travel and they say the earlier you can get out the more mess you can potentially miss. >> always congested and busy holiday weekend and everybody's out and roving around with the weather being bad it makes it twice as hard. >> reporter: so getting out early best thing to do. >> best thing to do is start out early, have a lot of

across most the region. most of it is fairly light and nuisance precipitation. you can see that it's highlighted in real light shades of green in some areas north of philadelphia. starting to see the light nuisance rain build n every now and then there's a steadier cell that pops in. this will intensify over the next couple hours and then eventually we get that changeover to let snow. as we take a look outside we have a little bit damp conditions on 95. we showed this to you about an hour ago it didn't look that wet but it is beginning to pick up a little get bit of a glean out there right now. temperatures well above freezing. this is all rain for now, no frozen stuff yet which is exactly the way accuweather portrayed the beginning of this storm. we're down into the upper 30's in allentown and run in redsing, a little cooler up here and this is going to be the first area that changes over to wet snow probably toward the tail end of the rush hour maybe a little later. 48 degrees in philadelphia. we may have to wait until afternoon before the changeover here but it's something we'll be just watching evolve as we go through the day and 45 degrees in sea isle city and down the

boardwalk in ac where we're maining just looking at rain today. here's future tracker 6. 6:30 we're probably still looking at just rain, could start to get steadier especially from philadelphia south and then we get up to 8 o'clock and there's the chance of a changeover up in the poconos and maybe some wet snowflakes beginning to build into places like allentown and reading. i don't expect an immediate horrific change in road conditions up there though. that's just going to be a little bit to talk about. after we get past about 9 or 10 o'clock, though we do have that snow very likely filling in and changing over and then from there on through the rest of the afternoon here's the 2 o'clock view, that snow does occasionally come down close to philadelphia and now this is the latest model impression of what's going to lap. i actually think there could be some wet snow falling in philadelphia after lunchtime and in through the early afternoon. then we get into the latter portion of the day. evening rush hour 6 o'clock you can see how some of this snow with colder air wrapping around behind it departing low pressure system off the coast there is going to start to wrap in a little bit of a changeover to snow south of philadelphia but it's not going to last that long.
5:38 am
by 9 or 10 o'clock tonight we're mainly drying out, maybe there's some leftover sprinkles or a little snow flurry up north. what are we expecting on the ground? still going for in 1 to 3-inch idea in the i-95 corridor but again with temperatures so warm we expect any accumulation to be fairly light and on grassy surfaces for the most part so mainly wet roads. during the afternoon, though, when it's coming down pretty good visibility will be an issue here. as you step up into the northern and western suburbs that's where you could see 3 to 6 inches in here you could get slushy to slippery road conditions. from allentown north to the poconos it could be more and up there i think snow covered roads. so, the farther north and west you go through the region the worse problems you're going to have later today and tonight. mainly wet along i-95 turning slushy in the northern and western suburbs, maybe snow coverage there and big wet snowflakes giving you reduced visibilities. that is thish on our roads today. and in terms of power lines, et cetera, we are looking at heavy wet snow in those northern and western suburbs. wind gusts could go as high as 30, branches could come down, possible power outages in
5:39 am
those northern and western suburbs later today. today we are looking at cloudy skies, rain, wet snow, temperatures will fall and stay in the 30's. you can see how we'll be in the upper to mid 30's through most of the afternoon. although cooler up north. it's all gone as you just saw on future tracker 6 in time for tomorrow's parade but we'll be in the 30's with wind chills in the uner 20's tomorrow. and i apologize. i am doing a little coughing here. your exclusive seven-day forecast we're going for temperatures in the 30's this afternoon. i know we're in the 40's right now but we will see those numbers drop later this morning and then just kind of hold in the mid to upper 30's in philadelphia through the afternoon. in the northern and western suburbs it will be a little bit cooler and of course in those northern and western suburbs we get the changeover to wet snow southeastern and it's more of an impact. tomorrow brisk and chilly 40 on thursday for thanksgiving so it will be cool and then brisk and colds for shoppers on friday, 39. saturday partly sunny skies, 42 degrees, back up into the visits by sunday with some rain possible at night. and then some showers monday morning but drying in the
